| NBA Returns By Keith Dobkowski The NBA has returned and is looking better than ever, at least from a stylistic point of view. David Stern and Co. must be thrilled as the biggest stories of the off-season were dress related and not arrest related. No Kobe Bryant mug shots, Allen Iverson thug shots or NBA stars with drugs, caught. Instead we have a new dress code. While there may not be another player more fun to watch than Iverson as he throws his 160-pound body in amongst the giants, I do look forward to the day when Iverson sits in a suit on the sidelines. Many have criticized the new dress code as being racist, but the many have often been wrong. Creating different rules for different players would be racist, however one rule widely enforced cannot be. Every corporate president in the country creates a dress code that every employee must follow. From Stern’s suits to George Steinbrenner’s facial hair, the boss gets to make the rules as the rest of us follow. Seems simple enough… So after a tough 2005 where the leagues best player, Bryant, failed to the make the playoffs, the leagues bad boy, Ron Artest, beat up a fan, and the leagues poorest millionaire, Latrell Sprewell, could not feed his family, the NBA is looking for a fresh start. They may have that and more in 2005/06. The Legalball.com 2005/06 NBA Preview will cover the Playoff teams, the ratings fiasco and the rivalry that will fix it, the up and coming stars and the picks. |
